Why it matters

High blood pressure has no symptoms but significantly increases your risk of heart attack and stroke.

Early detection means you can take action before serious problems develop, through lifestyle changes, medication, or both.

How it works

1

Quick check in private

We place a cuff on your arm and take your reading. Takes about 5 minutes in a private consultation room.

2

Results explained clearly

We tell you what your numbers mean and what to do next, in plain English. You get a written copy to keep.

3

If high: 24-hour monitoring

If your reading shows high blood pressure, we'll lend you a small monitor to wear for 24 hours at home.

4

GP gets your results

We send your readings to your GP surgery so they can follow up if needed.

What is 24-hour monitoring (ABPM)?

A single reading isn't always enough. Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) gives a complete picture of your blood pressure throughout a normal day.

We lend you a small monitor to wear for 24 hours. It takes automatic readings while you work, relax, and sleep, every 30 minutes during the day, every hour at night.

Return it the next day. We download the results and send them to your GP for review.

What to expect: Most people adjust quickly and sleep normally. The cuff inflates briefly then deflates, it doesn't stay tight.

What happens after your check?

Low (under 90/60)
We give advice on managing low blood pressure. If you have symptoms like dizziness or fainting, we'll refer you to your GP within 3 weeks.
Healthy (90/60–130/80)
Great news. We share healthy living tips and recommend you recheck within a year to stay on top of it.
Slightly raised (130/80–140/90)
We give lifestyle advice to help bring it down and recommend rechecking in a few months. Your results may be shared with your GP.
High (140/90+)
We arrange 24-hour monitoring and send your results to your GP, who will follow up within 1–3 weeks. If very high (180/120+), we contact your GP the same day while you're still here.
